Tox and Filler Treatments
What’s the Difference Between Tox and Filler Treatments?
Tox treatments (such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Daxxify®) and dermal fillers are both popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures, but they work in very different ways and treat different concerns.
Tox treatments are neurotoxins that temporarily relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles—those caused by facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, or smiling. Common treatment areas include forehead lines, frown lines (the “11s” between the brows), and crow’s feet around the eyes. Results typically begin to appear within 3 to 7 days, with full effects in about 2 weeks. Downtime is minimal—most clients return to normal activities immediately. Results generally last 3 to 4 months.
Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are injectable gels (often made from hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible materials) that restore volume, smooth out static wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Fillers are ideal for areas such as the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, under the eyes, and jawline. Results are immediate, with minimal downtime such as mild swelling or bruising. Depending on the type of filler used and the treatment area, results can last from 6 months to over 2 years.
In summary, Tox relaxes muscles to soften expression lines, while fillers add volume and structure. Many clients choose to combine both for a comprehensive, natural-looking rejuvenation.
